Peter Prichard, OBE C.St J.

As one of the Trustees and Life Governors of this very special Charity, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our official online home.

The Executive Committee of the Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund continues to do great work hearing cases and allocating funds to those most in need outside of Brinsworth House, whilst the permanent staff, within Brinsworth House, assist and care for those who are unable to care for themselves.

We are overwhelmed each year by the generosity of our supporters, who never let us down, and on behalf of the EABF, I extend our grateful thanks. We are, of course, ever in need of additional funds to continue our work, and anything you can give is most warmly received. The long support of the Royal Family is most appreciated by the Charity and we extend our heartfelt thanks to our Patron, Her Majesty The Queen, and to His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh for their continued support of the EABF and to the annual Royal Variety Performance.

Peter Prichard, OBE, spent fifteen years of his young life working for Lew and Leslie Grade, looking after artistes such as Danny Kaye, Jack Benny, Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour when they appeared at the London Palladium. He also represented, on behalf of the Grades, Mario Lanza, Johnnie Ray, Gene Barry, Robert Horton and two casinos in Las Vegas - The Dunes and The Sands. Whilst in the USA, he joined the Ed Sullivan Show working as the programme's European representative for sixteen years. In 1967, Peter left the Grades to work and run Kavanagh's agency, where he represented Bob Monkhouse, Pete Murray, Jack Douglas, Windsor Davies, Anita Harris and Jimmy Tarbuck. Three years later he set up Peter Prichard Ltd where he remained until he was 65, at which point he went in to partnership with his colleague Laurie Mansfield at International Artistes. Peter was awarded the OBE in 1992 for services to the entertainment industry. Peter's top two artistes were also appointed OBE - Jimmy Tarbuck and Bob Monkhouse.

Peter now likes to spend a few months of every year at his Florida home in Fort Myers. He was a Special Constable with the Metropolitan Police (London) for 15 years. He then volunteered to continue this service with the Sheriff’s Office in Lee County, Florida, when he is residing in America. They readily took up his kind offer of help and so each year he keeps  busy by assisting in the Sheriff’s Office on various tasks, such as patrolling and helping the general public. Peter feels undertaking this worthwhile work keeps him young and pays back some of the kindness that he has been shown over the last 57 years when working and visiting the USA. So, from a charity point of view, he extends his role on both sides of the Atlantic.
