Stan
Ribton was born into a show business background. His father was part of the successful
double act RIBTON AND RICHARDS, who toured all the Variety theatres in the 40's and 50;s.
however he did not initially follow in his fathers footsteps, he
went into advertising and worked for leading agencies until the early 70's,
including a two year National Service break in The Royal Green Jackets.
Stan was mainly involved with fashion accounts, and became very closely involved with
renowned fashion photographers. He made a complete career change and became an advertising
and editorial photographer. He ran studios in London, and serviced many of the leading
agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi and Dorlands. He produced a book of his editorial
photographs for Kodak, which meant travelling all over France and Thailand. Stan was also
a consultant for the British Government in India. He helped train Indian photographers to
produce a range of export catalogues. He is now semi retired from photography, but is
still an active member of the Magic Circle and also the recently elected secretary of the
Vaudeville Golfing Society. |
