'Attraction' crowned winners of Britain's Got Talent 2013
Hungarian shadow dance troupe, Attraction, were voted the winners of Britain’s Got Talent 2013 and secured their slot at this year's Royal Variety Performance.
The troupe of shadow dancers had previously been on the German and
Hungarian equivalents of BGT, but said they wanted to win this show
because this was the biggest programme of its type.
The Hungarian shadow dancers caused some controversy when they made the finals, with some viewers complaining about the fact that they weren’t British. However their patriotic routine in the final won over the British public and they were crowned winners after a spectacular final, achieving the highest TV ratings of any TV programme this year so far.
The official voting figures for the grand finale were as follows:
Attraction - 27.0%
Jack Carroll - 20.1%
Richard & Adam - 15.4%
Steve Hewlett - 14.7%
Luminites - 6.8%
Jordan O'Keefe - 3.7%
Gabz - 3.6%
Arisxandra - 2.9%
Pre-Skool - 2.8%
Francine Lewis - 2.0%
Asanda - 1.2%
Simon Cowell said: [It's] a bit of a surprise but it just shows that this country welcomes people from all over the world and they love this act. I am really, really happy for them.”
Amanda Holden spoke about the dancers, saying: “I think whatever language you speak, you completely understand their story and I think that’s the bottom line. You don’t have to speak English or anything, you understand what they are trying to do.”
The EABF offers its congratulations to Attraction and to all the acts who took part this year; it was one of the most memorable competitions in the history of the 7 year old event.
Attraction will now perform at this year's Royal Variety Performance, scheduled for the end of November 2013, in front of a senior member of the Royal Family.
